Charlie's Story

**Currently Enrolled in the Coffeewood Canines Program

Charlie is a handsome, goofy 1 year-old possible Retriever mix weighing about 55 pounds. He arrived at the shelter as a stray alongside another dog. Both were posted while we waited for someone to come looking for them, but unfortunately no one ever did.

Charlie still carries a bit of that puppyish charm about him. He keeps his kennel tidy, absolutely loves treats, and enjoys getting out into the yard where he can run and play. He has done well around other dogs and seems to enjoy having canine company.

Charlie was briefly introduced to the cat room, but he was far more interested in the smell of the food than anything else going on around him. We plan to walk him through that environment again to get a clearer idea of how he feels about feline friends.

He is a fun, friendly guy who could benefit from putting on a little more weight and settling into a home where he can enjoy regular meals, playtime, and plenty of attention.

During his veterinary exam, Charlie was noted to have a small cyst on his right hind thigh that contained clear fluid, and a soft thickening on the back of his neck that may be related to a previous vaccination.

Charlie is neutered, heartworm tested, up to date on vaccines, microchipped, and on monthly heartworm prevention.

Apply to adopt here:
https://orangecountyva.gov/159/Pet-Adoption-Foster-Care-Information
