Meet Charlie
Charlie is a sweet and funny little guy! He loves to play and loves to chew on his bones(which he loves to hide in his “secret” spots). Charlie had a rough start. He has been with us for just almost 2 months building his confidence and making friends. Charlie came to us from Kankakee and we were told he was very nervous, but slowly came around with some patience. He has been living in the director’s office to help him gain confidence which has helped him!
He at first hated the leash and people approaching him or petting him. We worked with him daily to help him trust a couple people at first. Within just a couple short weeks, Charlie was able to be leashed up and carried outside to the yards to run around. We quickly found out that outside is his favorite spot to come out of his shell. He started approaching us more outside than inside and when we brought him another doggy friend to play with he started trusting us even more! Charlie now walks on a leash and approaches new people more than he ever did in the beginning!
He will still need a patient and quiet home, but he is such a joy once he comes out of his shell. With the people he trusts here, he runs up and kisses them and enjoys sitting on their laps. He likes to play with balls and chew on his bones. He will take a little bit of time to warm up to you, but once he does you will be his best friend!
Charlie is a 2 year old terrier mix. Only weighs about 10 pounds. Due to his shyness, he would do best in a home with older children, but he LOVES other dogs! If you are interested in meeting Charlie, please call the shelter to make an appointment with a trainer so they can make sure Charlie is a good fit for your family!
