Name: Charlie (aka Bed Bug)<br/><br/>Breed: Beagle Mix (larger beagle may have some hound)<br/><br/>Size: 17” at shoulder, 30lbs (slightly underweight)<br/><br/>Age: apx 3 years<br/><br/>Gender: Male (Neutered)<br/><br/>Location: Chesapeake, VA<br/><br/>Good with Cats/Dogs/Kids/Elderly: Yes/Yes/Older Kids/No<br/><br/>Bio: Hi I'm Charlie a 3 year old neutered male beagle mix and I arrived here at Beagles to the Rescue in July of 2019. I am a bit leggier than your average beagle so I may be a beagle/hound mix but it is hard to say. I am black, tan, and red with ticked legs, and currently 30 lbs but I am a bit underweight, I should be about 33 lbs. I was found in Waverly, VA in June very skinny, covered in fleas/ticks, filthy dirty, and with a bad case of bronchitis. I spent a month at the Sussex County Animal Shelter recovering from my cough and waiting to see if someone was looking for me. When no one came looking for me the shelter contacted BTTR for help.<br/><br/>I get along well with other dogs, and cats. I am so incredibly happy to be off the streets and I love and I mean LOVE a sofa or bed. My foster mom calls me Bed Bug since you really have to convince me to leave the sofa. I am most likely a lost/abandoned hunting dog and I have probably lived my whole life outside. I have only been here a few days but so far I haven’t had any accidents or got into anything. Everything is new to me (TV, Lights, Fans etc) I am pretty outgoing but some of those things sound scary! I would do best in a home with people who can help me adjust to life as a Bed Bug! I haven’t been tested with kids or the elderly yet but I would most likely do best in an adult only or home with older kids. I haven’t learned to control how happy I am to see people and I may climb on smaller kids or the elderly. I would like a home with a fenced in yard in a quieter area (not a townhome or apartment) while I adjust to life in the city. Also I WILL get on your furniture be prepared to share.<br/><br/>I have been neutered, microchipped, receiving vaccines, and I am heartworm negative. I did test positive for Lyme and E. Canis which are tick borne illnesses. I show no symptoms and will receive the treatment (30 days of antibiotics) as part of my adoption. My adoption fee includes: Spay/neuter, Parvo/Distemper Vaccines, 1 Year Rabies Vaccine, Deworming, Bordetella Vaccine, Heartworm test, and Microchip with Prepaid Registration. All of our dogs are also on heartworm and flea/tick prevention while in our care.
