Charity's Story
From Charity's foster family:

Charity is a sweet, goofy hound who has waited months for a home, likely because of her age and unconventional good looks- which are exactly why we chose to foster her. After a few weeks of decompressing and adjusting to home life, she is now a confident, adaptable dog ready for her forever home.

Indoors, she isn’t especially "houndy." She rarely barks, crates well, and loves being included in daily life. She’s happiest stationed in front of a big window or door supervising the yard, but she also initiates lively play sessions with her canine foster brother and absolutely loves a game of fetch.

Charity has joined us at Tractor Supply, Lowe’s, Home Depot, and even SoGo CrossFit in Mechanicsville, where she slid effortlessly into the role of "gym dog:" confident, friendly, and unfazed by noise, even loud barbells dropping. She is gentle with children and strangers, excellent in the car, and surprisingly easy to handle in busy public spaces. She walks beautifully with a loose leash on a 15-foot lead, though deer and cats are still very exciting.

At the dog park, she prefers chasing a tennis ball and chewing it contentedly rather than nonstop romping, though she has done well with every dog we’ve introduced her to and would likely enjoy a canine companion. She is very food-motivated and is learning cues like "sit," "touch," and "off."

Charity would thrive in a home with a fenced yard, dog siblings, and a family who wants a loyal ride-along companion. She is lively, loving, and ready to find her people. If you’re interested in learning more about what she’s like to live with, we would love to hear from you.
