Chapo Mateo's Story
After Chapo Mateo was surrendered to Downey Shelter by his owner, we scooped him up to become a Frosted Face on September 29th. He is 10 years old and weighs 57 lbs.

Chapo is a sweet and friendly boy who gets along well with other dogs. On his first FFF group hike, he easily covered 2.5 miles on the trails at a local park. Chapo was friendly to every person he met, excited to encounter other dogs, and enjoyed pets and back scratches. He also joined volunteers and other Frosted Faces in giving paddle boarding a try, and his calm personality made him a natural!

Chapo went on a Frosted Fling, so we could learn what he is like in a home setting. His fling mom shared:

"This sweet, easygoing guy loves hanging out with his people. Here's what else we learned about Chapo:
Loves belly and entire body rubs, including his feet!!
Rides great in the car
Takes treats gently from your hand
This boy prefers a little wet & dry food mixed together or I change it up and add a little bit of shredded cheese instead of can
His "gotta go potty" signals are subtle. He'll do a little whine or gets animated.
Bath time, not a problem! Baths are just another way for him to get body rubs.
Does great on our 2 mile walks in our hilly neighborhood.
NOT on any meds!
We had roofers working at the house and he just stood at the sliding glass door and watched them. No barking! I guess he's not a good watch dog, but it does show he's a go with the flow kind of guy.
We took him on a San Dieguito River Valley Conservancy hike and someone asked if we trained Chapo to walk nicely on the leash. We can't take credit for his leash manners, that's all on Chapo!

Chapo is a sweet easygoing guy that you will quickly fall in love with."

Chapo loved being in a home again and is ready for a forever family. Might that be you?

To meet Chapo, please email placement@frostedfacesfoundation.org
