Meet Chance
Meet Chance, a 5 year old shepherd mix who has been at the shelter for a year and a half. Chance was a transfer from a shelter in Nogales who came in as a skinny stray. He has scarring on his neck that suggests past neglect, and is also deaf. Despite this, Chance is a sweet boy who loves getting attention from people. He is very smart and food motivated, which made it easy for him to learn hand signals for his basic commands, so being deaf doesn't hold him back. He enjoys spending time outside where he can run around, play fetch, watch wildlife, and enjoy smelling the flowers. He also loves going on walks and would love going on hikes as well. He walks well on the leash. While he loves playing with balls and gets spurts of energy, Chance is generally a pretty mellow dog. He likes napping on the floor next to you, getting showered with pets and looking out the window. He is crate trained and does like to nap in there as well. Chance would do best with dogs of similar size to him. He needs the right person to work with his deafness and make him feel secure.
