Challah's Story

Meet Challah 2 years old 32 lbs Terrier mix (best guess) Neutered male Challah is a gentle, sensitive boy with a soft soul and a huge heart. He came to us from a hoarding situation involving more than 20 dogs. Since being rescued, he has made beautiful progress learning that people, homes, and comfort can be safe and loving. Challah is a true "shadow dog" who bonds deeply with his person and loves staying close - curled beside you on the couch, tucked into your lap, or quietly following you from room to room. Once he feels secure, he becomes incredibly affectionate and devoted. He is calm, loving, and naturally gentle. Challah enjoys quiet companionship, long naps, and simply being near his people. One of his sweetest quirks is carrying around stuffed toys, which he absolutely adores. Challah does well with other dogs and enjoys interacting, but he prefers calm, respectful canine companions and benefits from slow introductions. Challah previously spent time in a foster home, where he showed wonderful progress learning home life skills. He is currently staying in our kennels, and while he continues to do well, we know he will truly shine again in a home environment. Because Challah is sensitive and still building confidence after his early life, busy public adoption events are overwhelming for him. He is available for adoption by appointment only, allowing him to meet potential adopters in a calm, low-stress environment. Challah would thrive in a quiet, patient home that appreciates sensitive, loyal dogs and is happy to let him continue building confidence at his own pace. In return, he will offer deep devotion and a truly special bond.

At Rebel Animal Rescue, we believe in keeping adoption as simple and welcoming as possible. Instead of strict, one-size-fits-all requirements, we focus on open conversations with potential adopters. We want to learn about your home, lifestyle, and any challenges you might face, and work together on solutions that set you and your new pet up for success. The adoption process starts with a short application, which we review to make sure the match could be a good fit. From there, we arrange a meet-and-greet with your entire family—and for dog adoptions, your resident dogs too. If everyone feels good about the match, we encourage a one-week trial period. This gives you time to see how your new pet settles in. At the end of the week, we’ll finalize the adoption if it’s working out—or welcome the animal back if it’s not the right fit. Our goal is to find loving, lasting homes while keeping the process as stress-free as possible for both you and the animal.
