We’ll have several dogs there looking for homes!<br/><br/>———————<br/> <br/>CELIA is the sweetest mama dog in spite of the neglect she's endured in her life. She had been living in a horribly overgrown yard along with two of her adult pups, Mike and Sully, who are also available for adoption. <br/><br/>Celia had to have one eye removed due to an old injury, but don’t worry — it hasn’t slowed her down one bit. In fact, this girl zooms. She’s got some pep in her step and loves to do big happy laps around the yard, especially after a nap in the sun.<br/><br/>At around 8 years old and 60 lbs, she’s the perfect mix of easygoing and playful. She gets along well with other dogs and is happiest when she’s got a little freedom to roam in the yard, someone to love on her, and a cozy spot to curl up in at the end of the day.<br/><br/>Celia recently got to go out for a day trip with a volunteer. Celia had the best adventure! She went on a nice long walk—almost 2 miles!—with plenty of water breaks to stay refreshed. She explored beautiful Antioch Park, stopping to literally smell the roses and pulling toward the water like she was ready to dive in. Maybe swimming is in her future! <br/>She spotted the ducks, met a few new people (a little shy at first) and quickly warmed up with some tail wags and sweet smiles. After an hour together, she was cuddly, happy, and full of love. <br/><br/>Her adventure continued with a visit to her volunteer family’s office, where she was the star of the show—everyone adored her! <br/><br/>Celia is such a sweet girl—great in the car, wonderful on leash, and full of charm everywhere she goes. <br/><br/>Sadly, but no big surprise, Celia tested positive for heartworms. But please don’t let this scare you away! We just need to get her into a home during her treatment. The cost for the heartworm treatment is completely covered. We can provide you with more info about her heartworm treatment if you are interested in adopting or fostering her (we’d love to find her a foster home!). Once her treatment plan is completed, Celia will be able to live a normal healthy life with no restrictions!<br/><br/><br/>ADOPTING A PET<br/>We are open for meet and greet adoptions at our shelter on weekends. No appointment is necessary for weekend adoptions. Our weekend hours vary and we also have satellite adoption events every weekend. Please contact us by phone at 913-321-1445 or by email at petadoptions@kckpd.org to schedule your appointment during weekdays.<br/><br/>If you have a dog or children we ask that you bring them with you to meet our dogs to make sure it is a good match.<br/><br/>Our dogs have been spayed or neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped and tested for heartworms (if 7 months or older).<br/><br/>FOSTERING<br/>Can't commit to adoption but still want to help us save lives?
