Meet Catalina!<br/><br/>Catalina is a beautiful and the most adorable and sweet adult Mexi-mix girl who just arrived in Oregon through our rescue program, thanks to our wonderful friends and rescue partners in Ciudad Constitucion, a town just outside of Cabo in Mexico's Baja California Sur region. This pup is one of 17 very lucky dogs of all shapes, breeds, ages and sizes who were given the chance to start fresh and are now on their way to brighter futures. Sweet, hopeful, and full of potential, these dogs are just beginning their journey and will be available for adoption soon. She was found abandoned when she was very young; she had a swollen eye that had already ruptured internally and she was very thin. When she gained some weight, the doctor removed the eye because she couldn't see anymore; she was in very bad condition. Eventually, her other eye closed, and although she can no longer see, we didn't have it removed. She is very intelligent and doesn't need special care; she lives a normal life.<br/><br/>Staff update: She's so so sweet, even right out of the van when she and the others arrived. She's very friendly, loves sniffing and searching for her dog buddies, understands some Spanish commands, and she really appreciates clicking and really any vocal sounds from you, so she knows you're close by! Manny - Adoptions Manager<br/><br/>Foster update - She's such a fast learner, did a 45 minute walk around our neighborhood, she walks so well on a leash. Will definitely be a dog that can hike the trails! - 1/24/26<br/><br/>Foster update - Catalina is an absolutely gorgeous, gentle soul with a heart of gold and a quiet resilience that will truly inspire you. Though she happens to be blind, you'd hardly know it once you see how confidently she navigates her world - she has adapted beautifully and simply takes life in stride. This sweet girl is incredibly people-focused and happiest when she's close to her humans. If you're looking for a loyal companion who will follow you from room to room and always want to be by your side, Catalina is your girl. Her devotion and loving nature make her such a special presence in the home. She's also making wonderful progress with her house training - with only two accidents in the past week, she's nearly mastered it! Catalina thrives with routine and consistency and continues to gain confidence every day. Catalina settles in nicely, enjoys a calm environment, and bonds deeply with her people. Because she loves being the center of attention, she may do best in a home where she can soak up all the affection or with a resident dog who is comfortable sharing their humans. More than anything, Catalina is simply a fantastic dog - sweet, steady, affectionate, and so easy to love.
