Catalina's Story

Set sail with Catalina!

Hi, pals! My name is Catalina, and I'm a 4-year-old Lab/Shepherd Mix female, weighing in at 60 pounds.

I've come all the way from Los Adoptables in Ensenada, where I was waiting three years to be adopted. However, I feel like my luck has changed now that I'm a TAP doggie and that my furever family is right around the corner! I've already been spayed, and I'm fully housebroken, crate-trained, and potty-trained. I do pull on walks, though, so I'll need a gentle leader or front-clip harness while outside. I am pending some dental attention, but other than that, my health is in pretty good shape!

I'm a friendly, outgoing, affectionate, obedient, and loyal girl. My foster mama says that I'm a wonderful balance of snuggly and affectionate, while also being one who respects set boundaries around the house. I have zero trust issues, I adapt to new environments easily, and I have very mild symptoms of separation anxiety. I am dog-friendly (but do have the tendency to resource-guard), kid-friendly, and stranger-friendly. However, kitties are a big no-no for me since I have a strong prey drive.

I enjoy taking long neighborhood walks and hikes searching for lizards, playing fetch all day long, and more than anything, playing with toys! Stuffies, balls, squeakers, chews you name it, I love playing with it! But even though I am medium-energy and love being active, I'm also content to nap quietly all day while you work from home.

Though I do like other doggies, I think my ideal home would be one where I can be spoiled as an only fur-child (mainly due to my resource guarding). I think I'd thrive with a single person, a couple, or an entire family with kiddos I can play with. Just as long as my future includes belly rubs, games of fetch, and long neighborhood walks, I'll be as happy as can be!

Do we sound like a good match? If so, let's take a voyage together! If so, my adoption fee is $300 and that includes spaying/neutering, shots, and microchip. If you want to take me home, please fill out the form on the website here: https://theanimalpad.org/adoption-application/ You can also follow me on Instagram at @theserialfoster. The Animal Pad's Adoption Policy
We prioritize local San Diego applicants. We do not provide transport of dogs to other states, and don't allow the dogs to fly in the cargo of the plane. Our adoption process from start to finish, involves 3 standard forms, and 2 situational. All potential applicants must be capable of providing their adopted pet with routine and emergency veterinary care (yearly health checks, keeping vaccinations current, heartworm/flea preventatives, and immediate care in the event the animal is sick or injured). They are required to license their pet, and keep an identification tag on their pet at all times. All applicants must agree to a home check, and provide us with a veterinary reference, or personal references if you're a first-time pet owner. Our home checks are not to invade the privacy of the applicants, we do this to ensure the pet is going into a safe home. We do not discriminate against non-homeowners, or those living in apartments, condos, or otherwise. Our adoption fees vary from $150-1000. Applicants must agree in writing that if for any reason they are unable to keep or care for their pet, the pet will be surrendered back to our rescue and not re-homed, turned over to a shelter, pound, rescue, new owner, sold, etc. Adoption Application: https://theanimalpad.org/adoption-application/
