Casper N 23155's Story

Casper is a member of our Compassionate Care Program which provides long term care for dogs with special needs. Casper came to RMCR 2 days before Christmas in 2023. He is a rather handsome 14-year-old gentleman who has brought a lot of joy to his foster family. He is a bit shy and prefers that humans move slowly around him. He is sweet and is more trusting of women but will warm up to men. Casper loves being in the company of other dogs. He is learning from other dogs how to enjoy the gift of being a dog. Being around them gives him confidence as he will mimic their behavior. His dog friends have shown him that the touch of a human can be gentle and loving. He loves to have his belly rubbed.

When Casper arrived, he was vastly underweight. He looks to be quite a healthy weight now. Good food and health care are essential for Casper. Part of his healthcare involves taking him for walks, which he really loves. He also loves napping. Casper has a heart murmur. He's also gets the occasional ear infection. But that just goes with being a Cocker Spaniel with floppy ears. Casper has had one seizure that we know of with no ill effects.
