Casper's Story

Meet Casper! Casper is a 3 year-old boy, 13-pound Maltese mix with the sweetest personality you could imagine! This little guy is looking for his forever home and promises to fill it with love and laughter. Casper’s favorite thing in the world is snuggling as close as possible to his people. If you’re looking for a loyal lap companion, he’s your perfect match! He also loves going on walks and has an adorable habit of trotting along the curb as if he’s on his own little adventure. When it’s playtime, Casper loves playing with humans and other dogs! He’s the perfect mix of playful and cuddly, and he’s ready to share all his love with a family who will adore him. If you’re looking for a small, affectionate dog who will keep you company on walks and snuggle up with you at the end of the day, Casper is the pup for you! Casper didn’t always have such a joyful life. Casper showed up as an injured stray to an overcrowded city shelter just a couple months ago. He was scared and had a visibly injured jaw with blood around his mouth and a bite mark on his ear. Despite his visible injuries, he was the sweetest boy! Due to his jaw injury, he was x-rayed, and what was found was completely heartbreaking. Not only did he have a fractured jaw, but someone had shot this tiny boy with a BB gun! The pellet was lodged in his neck. Mazie’s Mission immediately rescued him from the shelter! The amazing vets at Mazie’s Mission got to work on him right away. He was covered in fleas, so he got a bath, then was sedated the next morning in order to stabilize his jaw, giving him a chance to recover from such an injury. He was able to recover with a wonderful foster family that gave him lots of love and cuddles. He is now fully recovered and ready to be adopted! He is neutered and microchipped, and fully vaccinated.
