CASH's Story

Cash is a loving, cuddly boy who truly just wants to be around his people. Affection is his favorite thing, and he’s happiest when he’s close—soaking up pets, leaning in for cuddles, or quietly keeping you company.

Cash has a medium-to-high energy level and benefits from a little playtime each day along with a short walk every couple of days to keep him content and balanced. He enjoys attention and interaction more than constant activity, and once his needs are met, he settles in nicely.

He’s very comfortable with handling overall and enjoys being petted, though he can be a bit sensitive about his paws at times (and other times, he actually enjoys having them held!). Cash communicates clearly and politely—if he doesn’t like how he’s being touched, he’ll give a small warning growl, and as long as you respect that boundary, he’s perfectly fine. He’ll even sometimes come to you for a hug if you’re sitting on the floor, as long as it’s on his terms.

Cash is friendly with new people once he understands the situation. He may bark when someone approaches the house to alert his humans, but once he sees that everything is okay and he’s invited to say hello, he’s eager for pets and a new friend. He’s currently adjusting to living with another family dog, sharing toys without possessiveness. While too much face-to-face interaction can lead to minor growling, the dogs coexist well with supervision and space.

Like many affectionate dogs, Cash can get excited and may jump on people or place his paws on the counter if he smells food, but he responds well to redirection and is already improving. He also experiences some separation anxiety and occasional indoor zoomies, but he calms well with soothing routines—“dog TV” has been especially helpful.

Sweet, gentle, and full of love, Cash is looking for a home where he can feel secure, respected, and adored. With patience, consistency, and plenty of cuddles, he’ll make a wonderful companion and loyal best friend.

Adoptions are free and include support from our adoption team to ensure a smooth transition from the shelter to your home. Adopted pets are vaccinated, microchipped, and spayed/neutered before leaving with you. To view our current available animals, please visit: https://indy.gov/activity/adopt-a-pet.
