Casey's Story
Meet Casey!

Casey is an adorable puppy new to our rescue. She was found wandering the street by a kind little girl who gently scooped her up and brought her home to safety — and in her honour, this sweet pup was named Casey.

She recently arrived in our care through our wonderful northern rescue partners. Many thanks to Flights For Hope for sponsoring her flight from Manitoba to Toronto.

Casey has settled beautifully into her foster home in Pickering. Casey is a sweetheart through and through — confident, playful and very social with her foster dog siblings.

Casey is approximately 14 weeks old (approx. birthday Oct. 22, 2025) and weighs about 10 pounds. She is a husky/shepherd mix and is expected to grow into a medium to large size dog. She already shows signs of being a bright, happy, friendly pup who enjoys exploring, playing with toys and curling up for snuggles once she’s had her fun.

Casey’s adopters must be prepared to keep her busy with lots of daily exercise, stimulation and continued socialization. She is very smart and responds well to praise and treats. Like all puppies, Casey loves to chew — toys, ropes and balls are great for redirection, and she’s easily encouraged to focus on the appropriate items. She enjoys playing with her foster siblings and is confident in new areas, making her a great candidate for future leash training and adventure walks.

Casey is still very young and would not do well being left alone for long hours. Puppies need ongoing care and housetraining support, and her foster takes her outside every few hours to reinforce good habits. She is doing well but still needs consistency, patience and gentle guidance. Her adopters must be committed to crate training, routine bathroom breaks and all the typical work that comes with raising a puppy. Puppies thrive in homes that can provide structure, positive reinforcement and lots of love.

Because Casey is a husky/shepherd mix, she will likely be an active adult dog who needs daily exercise and outdoor time. A home with a safely fenced yard is recommended so she can enjoy supervised playtime between walks. She gets along well with the other dogs in her foster home, and we feel she would enjoy having another friendly, confident dog to learn from. If there is not another dog in the home, it will be important for her adopters to provide lots of social time with other dogs.

Until Casey is fully vaccinated (in a couple of months), she must avoid areas with a high number of unknown dogs such as dog parks and pet stores. Casey has had her first set of puppy vaccines, has been dewormed and is microchipped. She will require two more sets of vaccines to be fully protected. She is currently being treated for a UTI. She will need a recheck once the antibiotics are finished to be sure it is gone.

Casey’s bio may change as we learn more about her.

Please see our website (www.adoptadogsavealife.com) for information about our dog rescue and adoptions. Our adoption process includes an online application, a telephone interview, a virtual home or in-home visit, reference checks and a meeting with the dog. Our adoption contract for puppies is a “foster to adopt” contract. Once Casey is spayed, the permanent adoption contract will be completed.

An adoption fee of $500.00 applies. We will also charge a $200.00 spay deposit that will be returned once Casey has been spayed by her adopters.

Casey is being fostered in Pickering, Ontario
