Carter's Story

Are you lookin' for a sweet senior who could teach a class on how to snuggle? A boy who is truly ageless and filled with unadulterated love of this world and everything in it? Hi, I'm Carter, and I'm that AND a bag of chips! My favorite place in the world is right by your side, soaking up all the love and pets you’re willing to give. I have plenty of pep in my step and I really enjoy going for walks. I love taking in the sights, sounds, and smells of the world around me.

I came to Great Plains because I was found without an owner. I needed to have someone to care about me again. I was very unhappy after a few days, feeling the stress of too many animals and too much noise. So I got into a wonderful foster home with a foster dad that treats me like a king! We take walks together, cuddle together, play fetch together in the yard and do all the things that good dogs and their humans like to do. I'm so lucky to have found my way to foster! I'm housebroken, gentle, and such a friendly guy. And I have a tail that never stops wagging!

I’ve got a calm, gentle nature and I walk like a pro on leash. I’d be happiest in a home without cats, small dogs, or any little furry creatures. I like to take my time getting to know other dogs, so I’ll need to meet any potential dog siblings first to make sure we’re a good match.

If you’re looking for a loyal companion who’s equal parts cuddle buddy and walking partner, I'm just certain that I'm your guy. Meet me!

Love from Carter

Featuring photos by Caley Clark Photography

Adoption Requirements: - Adopter must be 18 years of age or older. - For the safety and health of our animals, we do not ship pets. - Pet adoption fees range from $60 to $450. Our adoption fees help to offset the cost of evaluation, housing, feeding and medical care for the thousands of animals needing our help. We do our best to keep our adoption prices reasonable while generating income to support our goal of caring for animals available for adoption until we can place them in a loving home. The adoption fee for each animal varies and is dependent on many factors including: age, size, behavior, medical condition, and public demand. If you have any questions about our adoptable pets, please call (913) 831-7722 or email adoptions@greatplainsspca.org. Our expert matchmakers look forward to finding you the perfect furry family member!
