Carly's Story

Come meet Carly—the hilarious, sweet, water-loving superstar with a face so unique youll remember her fur-ever!

This girl is pure sunshine wrapped in fur, and she has been waiting at the Center for waaaay too long. She just needs someone to give her a chance and discover what an incredibly loving, smart, funny, and loyal girl she is.

Carly is a 4-year-old, 45-pound mixed-breed beauty with a HUGE personality and an even bigger heart. She is very sweet, calm, and incredibly people-oriented. She loves attention, enjoys being around her people, and has never met a stranger. Kids? Wonderful. New people? She thinks theyre all future best friends.

Carly is a favorite at our Adoption Center, but her biggest fan just might be our acclaimed dog trainer. When someone who works with dogs for a living has a soft spot for Carly, you know there is something pretty special about this girl!

And Carly is truly the best of both worlds.

Want an adventure buddy? Carly is ready! She loves going for walks, exploring, sniffing EVERYTHING, riding in the car, going on field trips, and checking out new places. She does best with a harness and absolutely loves having things to investigate. She may even have a little water-dog hiding inside her—shes been known to happily hop into the water!

But when the adventure is over? Carly is perfectly happy to become a Netflix-and-chill couch potato. Away from the Center, she is incredibly chill and loves nothing more than curling up for a cozy nap and following her favorite person around the house.

On days when she has some extra energy to burn, a good walk or adventure makes all the difference. Once shes had the chance to get those zoomies and pent-up feelings out, she settles beautifully, is very obedient, and is happy simply being with her people.

Carly is also SMART! She knows how to sit, rides beautifully in the car—even with a meowing cat nearby—and stays calm and relaxed at the vet. She has shown house-trained behaviors and thrives on human connection. Shes the kind of dog who can learn, bond deeply, and become an amazing companion when someone gives her the consistency and chance she deserves.

As for other dogs, Carly isn't a fan of super high-energy dogs and can sometimes be a bit of a loner. She does well around dogs once shes had a chance to decompress and get some energy out, and she has done well at events with other dogs, often simply ignoring them. She especially enjoys puppies! We think she could potentially live with the right canine companion, but a calmer, well-socialized dog would be the best match, and a meet-and-greet would be important.

Carly would do best in a home without cats. She also has Olympic-level jumping skills, so a secure yard is a must—this girl has places to go and adventures to sniff!

Most importantly, Carly needs someone willing to look past the kennel and give her a real chance.

Come give Carly a two-week trial. Let her show you who she really is outside the Center. Give her time to settle in, let her decompress, take her on walks, let her sniff and explore, then watch her curl up beside you and realize just how special she is.

She can be your hiking buddy.

She can be your weekend adventure partner.

She can be your errand-running copilot.

She can be your Netflix-and-chill girl.

She can be all of it.

She is loving. She is smart. She is funny. She is sweet. And she deserves a family who will finally give her the chance to show them just how wonderful she can be.

Come meet Carly. Give her a chance. You might just meet your new best friend.

Adopting from the SPCA of the Triad means giving your new companion a healthy and happy start! Our adoption fee includes spay/neuter, microchipping, age-appropriate vaccinations, and heartworm testing, so you can feel confident your furry friend is ready for their new home.

Carly also comes with 30 days of free post-adoption support through Petcademy.org. This benefit includes free access to Petcademy's team of trainers/behaviorists and online materials to help ensure a smooth transition into a new home. You can text unlimited questions to Petcademy, and they'll respond within 24 hours (Monday through Friday).

Interested in adopting or learning more about our animals?
