A committed home is required for him to make the trip, and we’re hopeful the right person is out there. <br/><br/>Meet Carlo <br/>Carlo is a 9-week-old mixed breed puppy who was found as a stray and brought to the shelter. At such a young age, he should be learning about toys and naps in a cozy home — not growing up in a kennel. Now he’s hoping his next stop is a safe, loving home where he can grow up surrounded by care and stability. <br/><br/>Like most puppies, Carlo is curious, playful, and full of potential. He’s at the perfect age to begin learning all the basics — house training, crate training, leash skills, and socialization. With consistency, patience, and lots of positive reinforcement, he will blossom into a wonderful lifelong companion. <br/><br/>Carlo has already been altered and is ready to begin his new life. Apply: Fill out an adoption application completely and submit all necessary documents.<br/><br/>2.) Application Decision: approved applicants will be notified via phone call and email.<br/><br/>3.) Foster-to-Adopt Trial Period: After approval, you have the opportunity to do a meet and greet and bring your dog home! You get a 5-day foster-to-adopt (FTA) period to make sure it's the right fit.<br/><br/>4.) Final Decision: By the end of the FTA period, please let us know your final decision to adopt or return the dog to our rescue.<br/><br/>5.) Home Visit: After the adoption process, we conduct a home visit either in person or via Zoom meeting to ensure that everything is going well with the transition and to answer any final questions you may have.<br/><br/>6.) Neuter/spay for puppies: for dogs who are not fixed at the time of adoption, we will reimburse for the procedure once we receive proof of spay/neuter. The procedure MUST be done at HAWS Snip Clinic in Waukesha, WI, or Wisconsin Community Veterinarian Center in Madison, WI. If you would like to go through your veterinarian or another location, we will reimburse $125 once we receive proof of the procedure. We recommend spay/neuter around 6 months old.<br/><br/>**Note: Adoptions are not considered final until the dog is neutered/spayed if applicable**
