Cara's Story

At approximately just over a year old, Cara is a gentle, quiet soul who adores other dogs and would benefit from a confident canine buddy in her future home. She also gets along beautifully with cats and even ignores the chickens in her foster home — truly an easy, animal-friendly companion.

Cara is very shy with new people, but once she feels safe, she absolutely blossoms. She loves bedtime snuggles, happily joins you on the couch, and enjoys treats, toys, and the comfort of a peaceful home. She’s happiest living the homebody life where no one expects her to be social or entertain guests.

Because of her shyness, we recommend a calm home with no young children and one or two patient adults who can give her time to settle in. She may be a little unsure in brand-new environments, but with gentle introductions and a bit of understanding, she warms up beautifully — especially with dogs, who she typically trusts right away.

Cara’s foster says she is incredibly sweet, fun, and deeply affectionate once she bonds with her person. Her energy level is easygoing, with playful moments here and there, and she loves sleeping in bed and being close to the people she trusts.

Thank you for considering an OTAT-WTX rescue! All pets are living in foster homes, spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on core vaccines.

If you are interested in adopting, or for more information, please visit our website: https://otatwtx.org/how-to-adopt
