Cara's Story

Birdie & her three siblings came into our care on May 8, 2025. It’s hard to believe they've been in foster care for 155 days!
In the world of rescue, it’s a heartbreaking reality that plain puppies often get overlooked. Those who don’t fit the conventional idea of "cute" may sit in foster care for months or even years, waiting for someone to see their true value. Newer puppies, often smaller & fluffier, steal the spotlight and find homes quickly, while the plain ones are left behind. This is a tragic cycle we are all too familiar with.
Birdie & her siblings are growing up in foster care, just waiting for someone to give them their first real home. No, they are not tiny lap dogs, and they aren’t fluffy purebreds, but they are perfect just as they are. We believe they deserve love & a family just like any other dog.
Birth Date: March 23, 2025
Current Weight: Approximately 40 pounds
Breed: Mom is a 30-pound mixed breed; Dad is a Dachshund mix.

You can also reach us by sending us a message on our Facebook page at Heart of Louisiana Humane Society!
