Cara Basset Hound & Australian Cattle Dog / Blue Heeler Mix Orlando, FL

Cara is a 3 year old girl who has some interesting characteristics making it difficult to say what breed mix she is. She has the low rider build of a Bassett hound-the yodeling howl too- and a double Merle coloring and one eye with a blue coloring.
She is a sweet girl, very attached to her person. She is not very confident right now, and gets frightened by strange trucks, noises and other dogs. She recently gave birth to two puppies who did not survive due to a fatal congenital heart defect.
Cara has a definite case of separation anxiety and will not tolerate being crated or confined. Fortunately, when left free she is not destructive and aside from finding her person's clothing to lay on, she basically follows her person around, plops at their feet or stands/leans on her person. When left home alone, she waits patiently and greets you at the door. She is docile, non aggressive but can be stubborn, she weighs a bit under 50 pounds but is a definite challenge to move if she wants to stand her ground.
Cara loves attention once she gets past an initial meeting. She does well with other dogs with slow introduction. She is frightened by dogs who run up on her and will actually run from them in fear. Cara is a dog who will be totally devoted and dependent on her person. A family would be fine but she may choose her own special person.
She currently walks well on a leash, has learned to heel, will sit for treats and is fully housebroken. She plays well with other dogs in the house and would probably benefit from a home with another dog. She likes cats too.
