CAPULIN's Story
My name is Capulin and I came to the shelter when my previous owner could no longer care for me. I came in with another dog who I seemed to get along with well. I do have a low grade heart murmur that does not appear to be causing me any issues currently. I am a happy, sweet dog! Foster notes on Capulin: Capulin is a sweet dog with low energy. We went for a walk and he did well on the leash and didn’t react to strangers or cars passing by. He likes treats and laying on the couch. He was nervous to get into the car, but once he was in, he settled down. We hung out at home for a couple of hours and when strangers walked through the door, he seemed nervous but didn’t bark. We hung out at home for a couple of hours and he liked to lay on the couch and look out the back door. He is sweet and mellow. Capulin was shy at first but warmed up with plenty of praise and pets! We took him on a hike in the woods, and he loved it! Sniffed almost every tree and seems like he’d love to go for a run as well! We saw some deer and he was very chill and didn’t bark at all. He checks behind him when walking to make sure you’re still there! He also loves butt scratches. So cute. Capulin was the sweetest boy! We went on a 2 mile hike and he was wonderful! After taking a minute to warm up Cap was all about pets, especially butt rubs. He did very well in the car and barely pulled on the leash, even ignoring the many squirrels & deer that we came upon during our walk. I can assume he would be the best cuddler as he accepted many hugs during our time together. I hope Capulin gets the best home, he deserves it! I love how he is up to do anything, rather that be a chill day with lots of pets or a walk through the woods. Capulin is a gentle, calm, sweet, and quiet dog who does well with other dogs and loves lounging on the couch next to his people. He walks nicely on leash but may pull lightly and get anxious around loud noises or high traffic; calling his name usually helps him settle. He can be apprehensive when new people enter the home, but will approach to sniff and warm up quickly with patience and gentle manners. Capulin sleeps through the night, enjoys three short daily walks (0.3–0.75 miles), and otherwise relaxes. He gets a little anxious in the car and may pace, but enjoys hanging his head out the window when safe, waits calmly in the car alone, and does not try to escape. Capulin would do best in a quieter home with calm outdoor spaces and someone around for at least part of the day; he does well with another dog and would do best having a canine companion! (He also really does love butt scratches and likes to sit in your lap while receiving them!) I'm a stylishly senior pet and therefore my adoption fee has been reduced.
