Meet Capricorn
Q: What is your back story?
A: I heard that I used to live in a home with several dogs until my owner died. Luckily the volunteers at Almost Home Foundation saved me so I could have a second chance. I am currently in a foster home with two adult humans and two doggie sisters while I wait to be adopted.
Q: What was it like when you first came to Almost Home?
A: When I first arrived, I was terrified of everything. I don't know if this was just my way of decompressing or if I am just a naturally nervous dog or perhaps both. But with love, patience, and encouragement, I slowly came out of my shell. I am still nervous but my personality is starting to show, especially when I am out in the backyard. I'm like a totally different dog out there, running around and having fun.
Q: Are you housebroken and crate-trained?
A: Yes to both! In fact, I love my crate. It's my own little den where I feel safe and comfortable.
Q: Are you good with dogs, cats, or kids?
A: I am dog-friendly. I am skittish so children would be too scary for me. It's okay if they visit once in a while but being around them all the time would be overwhelming. Older teens should be fine. I am not sure how I would be with cats.
Q: Do you chew furniture, etc.?
A: Nope. Not at all. I spend most of my day curled up in my doggie bed under a blanket. I'm so quiet that you hardly know I'm there!
Q: Can you be left home alone?
A: Yes! Just put me in my crate with a Kong toy and a blanket and I'm a happy camper.
Q: Do you need a fenced-in yard?
A: Yes. I am skittish and do not potty on a leash, I will also need a secure fenced yard for potty-time. It doesn't need to be a big yard, just a secure one.
Q: What is your ideal forever home?
A: In terms of a forever home, I need someone with lots of love and patience to help me learn to trust. I am not a social butterfly that wants to meet everyone. I have not been very cuddly with people but I will sometimes let my foster mom pet me. Previous experience with scared/skittish dogs is a plus but not a must. Also, an overly busy home with lots of people coming-and-going would be overwhelming. And again, a fenced yard is required.
Q: Anything else we should know?
A: I am up-to-date on shots, micro-chipped, heartworm negative, and neutered. I weigh about 14 pounds. Oh, and I LOVE cheese!
