Caprice / Violet's Story
General Notes | Some of the most beautiful flowers take a little time to bloom, and our sweet doodle Violet is no exception! While she might start off as a bashful observer, a little patience unlocks her true superpower: an endlessly gentle and loving heart. Want to adopt this dog? Please do not email us. Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP, and an Adoption Coordinator will be in touch within a few days. Our standard application processing timeline is 12 - 14 days.

Personality | Violet is a sweet and gentle doodle girl who tends to be very shy when encountering new people and environments. She takes a little time to warm up and feel safe, but your patience with her is incredibly rewarding. Once she fully settles in, Violet truly blossoms, revealing a remarkably loving nature that makes her absolutely wonderful with little kids.

Story | Violet was adopted as an 8 week puppy and was well loved from the moment she moved in. Unfortunately, her family came upon tough times and had to rehome this sweet girl due to housing insecurity. They wanted her to find the best home possible and knew she had the best chance in Colorado with a rescue, so they reached out to MHLM to help!

Other Dogs | Good with other dogs! She is nervous around new people and dogs alike, but loves to play with doggy friends once she feels safe!

Cats | Violet has not been cat tested.

Children | Violet spent her first year living with tiny babies up to teenagers and loves little kiddos!

Training | She is potty trained and crate trained. She sleeps in the crate at night without a peep!

Leash | Violet doesn't have much experience on the leash yet. She's still very nervous in her foster home but may be ready for more leash walks once she decompresses some more. Foster Update: I have taken Violet on 3 long walks in the neighborhood. She gets excited to go when she sees me getting her leash! She pulls quite a bit at the beginning, but then has been settling in and walking loose-leashed about 75% of the time. She is still getting used to all the noises of the world, and will pull mainly when she crosses a street or hears things like a loud truck passing, geese honking overhead, etc. She has done a little better each time :)

Activity Level | Moderate. She likes to play with other dogs and explore the yard! She may be ready to be your Colorado hiking partner once she settles in and learns the world isn't scary!

Health Notes | She's a healthy girl and will get spayed very soon!

Thank you! |

Adoption Donations | Our adoption donations are $575 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year old, $525 for 1 - 6 years old, $475 for dogs 7 - 10 years old, and $350 for 11+ years of age. Purebred dogs regardless of age are $625. These minimum donations help to defer the costs of initial vet care, food, transportation to Colorado, and supplies while in foster care (that currently average over $750 per dog).
