Capone's Story
Meet Capone - a happy dog who is ready to be your friendly, fun-loving sidekick!

Cheerful and curious, Capone quickly made an impression as a fun dog to be around. He has one of those goofy yet sweet personalities that is endearing right off the bat. He loves it when you play with him just as much as when you spoil, baby and cuddle him!

Capone has shown a moderate activity level so far, and he seems game for all sorts of activities. He likes to explore on walks or to romp and play with toys - but when it's time to chill out, he's ready to shift to hangout mode. Capone is quite tuned into his people, and just seems eager to please and be in our company.

On a day trip to a volunteer's house, Capone showed that he is confident and comfortable in a home environment. He also came across as super smart, attentive, and a good listener. He already knows sit and down, and is quick to pick up on other cues (he's working on "wait," for example.) He had no accidents and consistently keeps his space clean at the kennel, so we believe he is housebroken. When it's time to hit the road, he's easy to harness up and is a polite car passenger. And in play groups, Capone has been gently sociable with other dogs.

And while Capone does enjoy his toys, the only thing he loves more than playing is cuddling and giving kisses! He loves spending time with his people - whether he's on your lap, watching you cook, or doing chores together. He seems like a Velcro dog who will shower you with cuddles and Capone-style companionship.

Capone is estimated to be around a year old and weighs a beefy 66 lbs. Visit www.tinyurl.com/meetacitydog to set up a meet!

Fee: $61 | Includes spay/neuter, shots, microchip, license,

The CITY DOGS mission is to increase adoptions from the City Kennel by changing the image of the pit bulls who make up the majority of the kennel population, by preparing all adoptable dogs in the kennel for lives in loving homes and by creating as many opportunities as possible for the public to meet and get to know our dogs for the terrific pets they are meant to be.

Our Adoption Process...
Here's a little about how things work:
All of the CITY DOGS posted for adoption are available for direct adoption from the kennel, unless noted otherwise. You must schedule a meet with a dog in advance - we are not currently accepting walk-ins. Please look online first to see if there are any dogs you think would be a good fit for your home before scheduling a meet. To get the process started, visit www.tinyurl.com/meetacitydog and fill out the form. One of our adoption counselors will get in touch to schedule and confirm your meet! At the kennel, an adoption counselor will introduce you and your family to the adoptable dogs, share information we know about them, and discuss our suggested ways for successfully integrating a new dog into your home. You are welcome to meet multiple dogs. If the dog you adopt is already fixed, he or she may leave with you that day - otherwise, the dog can go home after receiving the spay or neuter surgery.)

About Our Dogs: All available dogs have gone through a behavioral and medical assessment. This assessment is a snapshot of who the dog is at that given time. We cannot make any guarantees with regard to behavior, temperament or health of any City Dog once they are in the home. Most of our dogs are picked up as strays, so we do not know what kind of home environment they were living in (i.e. with kids, other dogs or other cats), nor do we know if most of them are house trained. Everything we know about them is based on volunteer and staff observations. We do have some dogs in foster homes, where they will have more information about how the dog is in a home environment. It is very hard to tell with certainty whether or not a dog will be good with kids, cats or another dog. If you have kids in the home or another dog, we do require that they be present for a meet and greet with the dog you are considering for adoption.

Heath/Vaccinations: Dogs that are adopted directly from the kennel need to go to your personal vet within two weeks of leaving the kennel. All dogs receive their DAPPL, Rabies, and Bordatella vaccines, though you may be required to get follow up boosters. All dogs come microchipped and with a Cuyahoga County license.
