Cap's Story

Adopting a young senior is the best. There’s no potty training, puppy shark teeth, boundless energy, or nightmare adolescent months. This is why Cap is perfection. His idea of a perfect day involves activities like lying. Lying on the couch, a fluffy rug, or preferably on you. Sure he’ll do his deep old man bark at the front window if a stranger walks past, and maybe he’ll chase and squirrel or chipmunk— he’s not geriatric after all— but his main interest is just companionship.
Cap was adopted 5 years ago from the shelter and spent those years as an only pet. Because he had no socialization for so long, he’s going to take work to get him used to other dogs. We’re working on it, but if you prefer a single animal home, Cap would be a dream family member. We don’t think he’ll ever be okay with cats though, his prey drive is pretty high for the small animals.
Cap was only returned because he lost his owner, not because he did anything wrong and he was incredible depressed and shut down in the shelter, but in a foster home he’s engaging and happy and very… well rested. He’s potty trained, crate trained, and knows a bunch of cues- sit, speak, shake etc. If you're interested in meeting him, let us know!
