Meet Candace

******Please note, once completing the initial screen you will be connected with the placement for a video chat. Transports run every few weeks and we will have the dog on the next available transport once approved. If you are not able to accept a dog until a specific time period, please apply at that time************

We are a volunteer run rescue and donate our time to these dogs. IF you are not serious about moving forward in our adoption process, please do not apply. If someone other than yourself is part of the decision making process, please make sure you have spoken with them and they are on board. We really do not want to waste anyone's time if you are not serious about adopting this dog.

Candace, 6 months (estimated DOB 11/2023), spayed female, Retriever mix,
currently weighs 30 pounds so estimated to be large size when full grown. She is currently in a foster home in HOUSTON, TEXAS and can transport out of State once an adopter is approved.

Candace and her brother were supposed to be with a short term stay with one of our fosters through her local shelter. She asked us if we could help network them so here we are :)

We are not sure everything that Candace is mixed with! We do think she will be larger once she is full grown. She is an energetic and active puppy.

Candace shares a foster home with her brother and several other adult dogs. She absolutely needs a home that is able to engage her physically. She should have another dog companion for her to continue to learn and develop her social skills.

She is housetrained but will note she has access to the outside and is not left unsupervised. Her foster mom has not seen any accidents. She does well when crated. We anticipate in a new home some struggles in these areas. We always want a patient home who will work with her through that transition. She has not had much leash training, so will need some work in that area. She rides well in the car. She LOVES water and if it's deep enough he will be in it!

Candace is an explorer and more outgoing in that way than her brother. Her foster home has a large space for her to check things out. She does like affection and will cuddle with you on the couch.

There are cats in the current foster home and she was actually a little scared of them. She tends to steer clear and leaves them alone. She has not been around kids and we think she would do fine. We always recommend a home with kids who understand and respect animal boundaries. A home who understands she is a puppy who may jump up or knock into you and is still learning.

For puppies this age, someone needs to be home more than they are away as crating them for long periods of time is not conducive for their developmental needs.

***Listed BREED and AGE - We are taking our best guess & recommendations from our veterinarian on age, breed and size when fully grown. We rarely know a dog's exact age nor are we able to tell the true or full breed mix of dogs as our information is limited most of the time. ***
