Calvin's Story

Hi, my name is Calvin! I'm a PURPLE pawprint, which means I will fit well into a home that meets some specific criteria. Here is what would work best for me in my new home:

-Personality: Loving, friendly, talkative, goofy
-Can Live with Kids: Unknown history. Likely okay with gentle, respectful kids experienced with large breed dogs. Recommending 12+ at this time.
-Can Live with Cats: Unknown history, will need slow, supervised intro.
-Can Live with Dogs: Yes, another mellow dog of similar size and energy level should be fine! Initial intros done @ WHS.
-Can do Apartment Living: No, thank you!! This big ol Hound mix stays true to his roots (and has the singing voice to prove it!) A home with a big fenced yard would be ideal.
-Potty Trained: Yes
-Bite History: No
-Positive Reward Based Obedience Classes Required: No
-Energy Level: Low/medium
-Needs Medical Procedure Before Going Home: Nope!

-Additional Information: Calvin is a gentle giant looking for a forever family to call his own. We're not entirely sure what all this guy's made up of breed-wise, but based on his easygoing nature (and his incredible singing voice!) we'd be willing to bet there's at least SOME Hound in there! We see Calvin thriving in a home where he can sniff around the yard to his heart's content before curling up on the porch to catch the sunset with his people. He's caught on quickly to some of the basics like *mostly* decent leash-walking, and verbal cues like "sit." Calvin has some food sensitivities and may need to be on a high-quality, limited ingredient diet to help keep him looking and feeling his best. If you've got room in your heart (and your couch!) for this sweet-natured guy, fill out an application to come in and meet him!

If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application on our website (www.whatcomhumane.org/adopt) or in person at our facility. We recommend calling into the shelter after your application has been submitted so our front desk can give you next steps on our adoption process.
