Calmada's Story

Meet Calmada!!!

This 1-year-old, medium-sized girl (about 45 lbs) came to us through an interstate transport, so her past is mostly unknown. What we do know is that she’s a gentle, sweet soul who has found the shelter environment a bit overwhelming, but she’s truly trying her best. Calmada may be slow to warm up at first, and we recommend that all family members meet her prior to adoption to ensure a comfortable and successful match.

Calmada has enjoyed meeting other dogs here at the shelter and may really benefit from having a confident canine companion in her new home. During her time in a foster home, she loved playing with the resident dog and took cues well from them. With gradual introductions, she may be able to live happily with another dog and even gain confidence from their guidance.

This sensitive girl will need a patient home willing to go slow, give her space, and use high-value rewards to help her settle in. In foster care, she did well with potty training when given regular outings, walked beautifully on leash, and even started crate training—though she proved to be quite the escape artist! As her foster shared, “She’s a little slow to warm up, but very sweet.” Calmada is ready for a calm, understanding home where she can blossom at her own pace.

She is spayed, microchipped, and up-to-date on vaccines and preventatives.
If you have further questions, please call the shelter at (517) 626-6060 or email our adoption staff at adoptions@AdoptLansing.org.
