Callie's Story
Callie is currently living and training with her handlers at Lawrenceville Correctional Center.

Through a partnership with the Virginia Department of Corrections, Pixie's Pen Pals (a program of FETCH a Cure) places homeless dogs in the care of incarcerated people for dedicated, individualized training and socialization guided by canine behavior specialists.

The bio below was provided by her handlers at Lawrenceville Correctional:

My name is Callie and I have come a long way since meeting my handlers through the FETCH program. When I got here I wasn't sure about people, some of them seemed a little scary. Now I am learning that people are okay. I am cautious when I first meet someone but I warm up real quick. Something to know about me: I love my ball (more than anything, in fact!) If you are wondering, it is a racket ball! It's blue but I don't think that matters. I love to chase my ball as far as you can throw it. I will even bring it back to you when you throw it! I love to play with other puppies. The smaller and more energetic the better. I tend to be the leader of play time so I may bark a little with my friends when playing. When I am adopted I really hope my new family can provide plenty of space to run. I will need it to burn off all this energy. When it's time to sleep, all you have to do is give me a treat and a belly rub and I'm off to bed. No potty accidents with this puppy! I can't wait to meet you!
