Callie's Story

Meet Momma Callie

Callie is a 2-year-old Blue Heeler mix who came to us after arriving at an overcrowded Houston shelter with her newborn puppies. She was completely overwhelmed and shut down—but thanks to an amazing Houston foster, Callie and her babies finally had the chance to decompress and feel safe.

The little family had a temporary setback with some hair loss and crusty skin, so they stayed in Texas a bit longer than planned. After treatment, they made their way to Colorado, where all of Callie's puppies have found fosters or adopters. Now it's Callie's turn to focus on herself.

She's still wary of new people, animals, and busy environments, but once she warms up she blossoms into a happy, bouncy, silly girl. With slow, proper introductions she does well with other dogs. Cats, however, still confuse her a bit.

Callie is housetrained, crate trained, walks nicely on a leash, and loads right into the car. She loves to explore and has great recall once bonded. She does have a touch of escape-artist energy, so a secure fence is important. She's also scheduled to be spayed soon—no more babies for this sweet momma.

Callie needs a calm, patient home that understands shy dogs and can help her continue building confidence at her own pace. If you have the love and time to help this gentle soul thrive, she will reward you with endless loyalty.

Adoption Link: https://www.wagtopia.com/search/pet?id=2581361&name=Callie
