Calix's Story

Meet Calix — The Brave Little Dreamer

Calix’s journey began in a place of uncertainty — his mom had been wandering the reservation for nearly three years, doing everything she could to stay alive. When she was finally rescued, fate intervened: she gave birth right there, waiting for transport to safety. Twelve tiny lives entered the world that day, and for once, they didn’t have to face the cycle of struggle their mom had known. She’s now spayed, healthy, and finally free — and her pups, including Calix, are ready to start their own chapters of love and belonging.

Calix is a young male, 5 months, with a short, shiny black coat and a sparkle in his eyes that tells you he’s both curious and kind. He’s that perfect blend of everything we love in dogs — Husky intelligence, Shepherd loyalty, Lab friendliness, Boxer goofiness, and Cattle Dog grit. A true “reservation special,” he’s got the best of all worlds rolled into one loyal companion.

When fully grown, Calix will likely weigh around 50–60 pounds — sturdy enough for adventure, but still the perfect size for leaning against you on the couch. He’s great with kids and other dogs, social by nature, and loves being part of the pack. He’s current on vaccinations and healthy — ready to learn, explore, and love.

Calix is looking for a family that’s ready to help him become his best self. His perfect match will have:
• A secure six-foot fenced yard where he can safely run and play.
• Someone home often to guide him through puppy training and give him consistency.
• A forever mindset — not “until,” but “always.”
• The means and commitment to provide care, enrichment, and a lifetime of love.

There’s something special about Calix — a quiet confidence and an unshakable sweetness that makes you feel like he already understands he got a second chance.

Calix didn’t just survive — he was meant to thrive. Now, he’s waiting for his person to find him and finish the story that fate helped start.

Adoption donation is $375
Includes shots to date, microchip and spay or neuter at our partnered vets.

Applications can be found at caringhearts4paws.org
