Cairo's Story

MEET CAIRO!

Cairo is a 6-month-old Chihuahua, about 7–8 lbs, neutered and up-to-date on vaccines—and he is a very Chihuahua Chihuahua. If you know, you know.

This little guy is everything good wrapped into one tiny package. He’s sweet, loving, playful and affectionate, happily soaking up all the kisses his foster mom can give him. He absolutely adores his dog friends—big and little—and would also be fine with respectful kiddos.

But remember that very Chihuahua Chihuahua part? Cairo needs a minute to decide you’re worthy of joining his inner circle. With new people, he can be nervous, standoffish and a little barky until he feels safe and learns to trust you. Once he does? The walls come down and that playful, engaging little lovebug comes out.

He also occasionally likes to remind everyone that he is, in fact, the biggest and toughest guy in the room. There’s absolutely nothing behind the spicy act, but we haven’t had the heart to tell him—so please just play along.

Cairo came to us as a breeder surrender, and before rescue his world was a very small one. Some of that still shows in his uncertainty, but watching him blossom in foster care has been pretty special. He is incredibly loved, and we see SO much potential in this little guy.

Cairo’s ideal home:
• Another friendly, playful dog (or dogs!) to pal around with
• People who are around often and want their pup included in everyday life
• A family willing to give him a little patience while he learns that new people are safe
• Chihuahua experience preferred—because, well... Chihuahua.

Cairo may need a little time to choose you, but we have a feeling being chosen by this spicy little lovebug will be completely worth it.

If interested in applying, you can complete an application here: https://floprva.org/adoption-application/
