Cactus's Story
Meet Cactus ?
13 lbs | Female | Tripod Warrior

Cactus may be small, but she’s overflowing with heart, spirit, and resilience. This brave little girl was found wandering the streets of South Texas in the Rio Grande Valley, struggling to survive with a painful injury to her front leg. Videos showed her limping, her right leg held delicately off the ground—an injury so severe, it looked like her foot may have been caught in something.

Despite everything she endured, Cactus never gave up. When she came into our care, we knew her leg couldn’t be saved, so we made the compassionate decision to amputate it. And just like that—this little street survivor became a proud tripod.

Now, with her painful past behind her, Cactus is thriving. She’s adapting beautifully and moves around with surprising ease. Her name suits her perfectly: tough, resilient, and blooming in the face of adversity. She’s sweet, gentle, and has a quiet but strong presence that draws people in.

Cactus is looking for a forever home where she can continue to heal, be loved, and be the cherished companion she was always meant to be. She may have lost a leg, but she never lost her spirit. She’s proof that love and a second chance can change everything.

Are you ready to give Cactus the soft landing she deserves?

ALL OF OUR DOGS ARE or will be SPAYED OR NEUTERED.

The Chasing Sunshine Dog Rescue adoption donation is $620.00. This includes: spay/neuter (at our vet), vaccines (dhpp, bordetella, rabies), microchip, health certificate, fecal test and our dogs are on preventatives for fleas/ticks/heartworm.

Out of state adopters must also pay for an interstate health certificate to their state.
