Byron's Story
~ Rescued, healing, and ready for love
This dog once belonged to a family who, unable to care for him, made the most irresponsible decision and tied him to a tree for months. Without love, food, or shelter, his little body was covered in fleas, ticks, and painful burns on his back from harsh chemicals; some people believe hot burnt oil kills ticks. Still, he never stopped wagging his tail when someone showed him a little kindness. A kind soul saw him and could not turn his head, so he untied him and took him to get checked, tested for scary illnesses and then home to start his long recovery. When he was rescued, he was malnourished, dirty, and in pain but with proper care he proved what a brave, loving soul he is. Today, Byron is healthy, strong, and ready for the one thing he has been waiting for all along: a family that will love him as much as he will love them.

Byron is about a year old, weighs around 18 kilos, and is a handsome lab/terrier mix.

The bald line along his back tells the story of the cruelty he endured, but Byron has not let it dim his spirit. He is simply waiting for the chance to prove how much love he has to give, and to discover that people can be kind, loyal, and never let him down again. Byron gets along beautifully with people of all ages and with the other dogs in his foster home however, he does not like cats. He rides calmly in the car, does not mind loud noises, and enjoys relaxing on the porch in his favorite chair. He knows basic commands like sit, lay, leave it, and come, and he is well-behaved when left alone at home. Like many neglected dogs, Byron is very protective of his food, but this is easily managed by feeding him separately. Byron would do best in a home without cats or chickens. He does not require a large yard, but he does need regular exercise to stay healthy and content. Byron is ready to join his forever family and start his new chapter filled with love and security.

Byron’s adoption fee is $550, which includes his flight, spay, vaccinations, and full vetting.
