Buutz's Story

PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE BIO ON THIS DOG BEFORE REQUESTING AN APPLICATION. MANY OF OUR DOGS HAVE STRICT REQUIREMENTS FOR THEIR ADOPTION.

1. Adult family only.

7-year-old male Chihuahua, about 12 pounds. Meet Buutz (pronounced “Boots”) he is a strikingly handsome blue merle Chihuahua with a big personality. He was an owner surrender from a breeder. He spent his early years with her making lots of babies before she needed to move in with family. Buutz is a confident and strong-willed little guy. He’s known to bolt if given the chance, so a secure yard is a must. He does well with other dogs when introduced properly, but he’s not a fan of the unpredictable energy of children—so an adult-only home is required. Buutz is a very sweet and cuddly dog with his foster family. While Buutz loves car rides, he’s still learning to feel safe in the world beyond his home. He can be leash reactive and will need continued patient training to help him stay calm on walks. Buutz has been known to nip when scared or overwhelmed, especially in unfamiliar situations. His future family must be experienced with dogs who need structure, patience, and clear boundaries. Buutz has a mild heart murmur that doesn’t currently require treatment, but annual vet checkups are important to monitor his health. If you’re an experienced dog owner looking for a loyal, loving companion who just needs some guidance and patience, Buutz might be your perfect match! To request an adoption application, email smidgetrescue@hotmail.com

Adoption contract and fee applies. All adoptable dogs can be met at adoption events hosted every weekend. For a list of scheduled events go to: https://www.facebook.com/SmidgetRescue/events . Smidget Rescue is not a shelter, and dogs cannot be seen at the Rescue location. All dogs are fostered throughout the Puget Sound area and are brought to the events where they can be met by prospective adopters. Additional pictures of adoptable dogs can be seen at: https://www.facebook.com/SmidgetRescue/photos_stream?tab=photos_albums. All adoptable dogs are spayed or neutered at 6 months of age or older. Puppies are adopted with a refundable spay/neuter deposit (in addition to the adoption fee) and adopters are required to get their puppy to our vet for their pre-scheduled spay-neuter appointments. APPLICATIONS CAN BE OBTAINED BY EMAIL ONLY. Adoption process includes application, meet & greet, home visit and reference check. Email Jamie at smidgetrescue@hotmail.com or click on the CONTACT link on this page. PLEASE DOUBLE CHECK YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS BEFORE SENDING. 8632781We get a fair number of incorrect emails and Jamie is not able to contact potential adopters. Notice: We do not ship dogs out of state. You must live within a three-hour radius of Seattle, WA, (such as Portland, Vancouver B.C., etc.), so we can arrange for a home visit. If your home seems like a great fit for the dog you would like to adopt, you must then drive to meet the dog at one of our weekend events or at the fosters home.
