Butterscotch (Butters)'s Story
Introducing the most handsome little guy with the sweetest personality! Butterscotch, now known as Butters, arrived last week as an urgent intake. After being tagged in a local post by a couple of followers, we were able to connect with the person holding him and keeping him safe. We don't know the exact details of his first weeks of life but we do know they weren't ideal. The other tenants in the building didn't even know there was a puppy in the apartment. His paws were raw, stained and peeling from standing in his own urine - we don't think he spent much time out of a crate before he was rescued by a guardian angel and came to us.
Butters is currently hanging out with our own crew and has been an easy puppy so far. He has fallen into our routine like he's been here forever and enjoys his playtime with our own pack as well as quiet crate time when it's time to reset and rest. This is what we know about our little blonde pup...
Name: Butterscotch
Age: ~10 weeks
Breed: Appears to be a Staffordshire terrier mix, possibly with some lab.
Location: Chesterville, ON. and available for LOCAL adoption in the Ottawa and SD&G areas. This is not negotiable and we will no longer be responding to inquiries from outside our area. Rescues & shelters are full everywhere - please consider adopting locally.
Personality: Affectionate, calm, observant. He respects the baby gates and isn't bothered by the restrictions we have given him in the house. He's happy to lounge on the dog bed in the kitchen, playing with toys, chewing a bone or dozing off. He also seems to welcome the safety of a crate and will nap there several times a day. Puppies require boundaries & consistency and so far he is doing well with both.
Housing: Due to not being fully vaccinated he requires a detached/semi-detached home with a private yard (no shared spaces).
Butters is people and dog friendly, however he enjoys feline friends a little too much and would be best in a home that is cat-free. He likes to be near his humans but isn't clingy; he's content to watch from his bed as I move around the house - unless I'm making dinner and then he's parked nearby and hopeful.
We feel that any kids in the home should be dog savvy with large, active breeds and older (10+ but teen would be ideal). He enjoys playing and outdoor time with my own crew of 3 adult dogs. They have been very tolerant of him and he seems to read them well - he would enjoy a friendly, patient fur sibling to continue learning from.
As with all young puppies, Butters will require an adult home more often than not - continued crate training, potty training & socialization are all important aspects of adding a puppy to a home. He should have someone available to help him with these things every couple of hours.
Please share his sweet face and help us find him the perfect forever home. Additional info on Butters, our adoption process and an application can be requested by sending us an email.

***Please note that an inquiry through Petfinder is not an application. Please follow up with an email.***
