High

• Need fence? Yes, 6ft preferred but also generally does not stray far from her people.

•Bio

Meet Butterscotch! Butterscotch is a happy-go-lucky girl looking for her perfect home! Some of her favorite things include playing with her foster siblings (human and canine) and going for leisurely walks with her person and chewing on a good bone. She’s a perfect angel on a leash and because she is deaf she prefers to stay with you at all times!

Her beginning was anything but easy and as a result is still working on her manners. She has mastered waiting in her kennel before being released and waiting at doors before walking outside. We are still working on hand signals but she’s learning quickly how to look at her people for directions!

Some things to know!

•Butterscotch spent over half of her short life in a windowless shelter, as a result she takes a couple weeks to fully settle in to a new space. Her perfect home would be with someone who is able to be home with her often and with another secure dog that will set good boundaries as sometimes she does not realize how hard she’s playing.

•She is currently on anxiety medication to help her settle enough to work through new things. She is fearless, though sometimes struggles with overstimulation and needs a patient home willing to put in the work she needs! She can eventually be eased off of her medication.

•she is technically kennel trained, although will cry in her kennel for awhile at first. When she first came to her foster home, she did best when she was with her calm dog friends to show her that everything is okay.

•Butterscotch can jump a 4ft fence and has escaped kennels.

•Can live peacefully with cats that set clear boundaries, though will try to play!

•LOVES kids, but needs to be reminded to stay down and be calm.

•Butterscotch’s best friend is her Aussie foster sister. She plays well with other dogs that match her energy level but that will also still set boundaries when play time is done.

Butterscotch has so much love to give and would love a family that is willing to put in the work she needs to thrive!

***PLEASE READ*** WE DO NOT RESPOND TO PETFINDER OR EMAIL INQUIRIES. Speak for the Unspoken's Adoption Policy
Before completing our online application please read the following: Our adoption process involves multiple steps and it typically takes up to 2 weeks from the time we receive your application to the time your adoption is finalized. We reserve the right to deny any application without explanation. All of our dogs and/or puppies are in foster homes. We do not schedule “Meet and Greets” without an approved application. Our Adoption Fees start at $325 per dog, $75 per cat or kitten. We can adopt an animal ‘out of state’, but you must be willing to travel to where the pet is being fostered, and transport the animal yourself after the adoption. If you have other animals (dogs/cats) in your home, they must be up-to-date on vaccinations, heartworm testing and prevention (dogs), and spayed/neutered. We will verify this with your veterinarian. If your animals are not up to date, your application will be denied. Please make sure to fully complete your application; leaving questions blank or not including all requested information will delay your application. Once your online application is submitted, it can take our volunteers 5 to 7 business days to process it. If we have questions about your application, we will email you. Please make sure to add our email, adopt@speakfortheunspoken.com to your email so our messages do not end up in your spam folder! Once your application is approved by the processors, it is sent to the person fostering the dog you have applied for. They will make the decision on whether the animal that you applied for is the right fit for you and your home. They may also choose to initially contact you via email or phone. If you do not respond promptly to their email or phone call, they will move on to the next applicant. Your application will be saved on file for 1 year and will be used for all dogs you would be interested in that time-frame. No need to keep filling out applications! Adoption application approval means you are approved to adopt an animal from us, it does not mean you are necessarily approved for the animal you applied for. There may be specific circumstances in your home that do not make it a good fit for one animal, but it may be a fine fit for another.
