Butters's Story

*****Belgian Malinois Adoption requirements*****

The dog you have selected is a Belgian Malinois. This is a breed that has very specific needs for an adoptive home. Because of their need for a high level of exercise, both mentally and physically and their need for ongoing training, only applicants with demonstrated owner/handler experience with this breed will be considered. The vast majority of them are not best suited as family pets, but in homes with experienced handlers knowledgeable of their needs and breed characteristics. We will not place in homes with small children or small dogs/cats.

Meet Butter

Butter is a stunning, approximately 16-month-old Belgian Malinois with a huge heart and an even bigger capacity for love. He is truly one of those dogs who bonds deeply with his people and wants nothing more than to be part of the action and included in daily life.

Butter is an affectionate, social boy who thrives on companionship. We have learned that he does experience separation anxiety, so he would do best in a home where he is not left alone for long periods of time. A home with another friendly, confident dog would be ideal, as Butter takes great comfort in canine companionship and does much better when he has a buddy by his side.

He is crate trained and potty trained (with the help of a dog door) and has shown wonderful manners in the home. Butter is still working on his leash skills and does especially well on walks when walking alongside another dog. He is eager to learn, intelligent, and responds well to structure and routine.

Butter has lived peacefully with cats and is respectful of them—curious, but not pushy or chase-driven. He does well with older children and has been exposed to other dogs in different environments, where he has behaved beautifully. Because he can get excited and is still learning not to jump, a home with very small children may not be the best fit unless the family is committed to ongoing training.

This sweet boy is often described as “the biggest love bug.” He is happiest when he’s close to his people or playing with a canine friend, and it’s rare to find him wanting to be alone. Butter is looking for a committed, understanding family who will give him patience, companionship, and the continued guidance he needs to feel secure.

If you are searching for a loyal, affectionate, and intelligent companion—and you have room in your heart and home for a dog who truly wants to belong—Butter may be your perfect match.

Meet & greets are available with an approved application.
If you can give Butter an indoor forever home, please complete our online application at:
http://www.savingpawsrescueaz.org/adoption-form/

We are an all-volunteer organization. Please allow a few days for application processing and reference checks.

Thank you for your interest in saving a life.
