Buttercup's Story

***CURRENTLY IN FOSTER CARE

***BEING TREATREATED FOR HEARTWORMS

Buttercup is a 4-year-old Beagle weighing 18 pounds who came to the shelter after living outdoors with limited care. She arrived underweight and in need of medical attention, but she has shown remarkable resilience and a quiet will to keep going.

Buttercup is gentle, soft-hearted, and understandably shy. She observes the world carefully and prefers calm interactions, taking her time to feel safe. Once she’s comfortable, her sweetness shines through in subtle ways — a soft look, a slow tail wag, a quiet presence beside you.

She is still learning what indoor life looks like and will need patience as she adjusts to routines she’s never known before. A predictable environment and kind, steady handling will help Buttercup continue to gain confidence. She has done well with the other dogs she has met and showed no real interest in the cat room.

Buttercup is receiving full veterinary care and will be adoptable after her spay, microchip and heartworm test on 12/23. We have brought her current on all vaccines, given Dewormer and flea/tick prevention.

Apply to adopt here:
https://orangecountyva.gov/159/Pet-Adoption-Foster-Care-Information
