Buster's Story

Hey Friends! My name is Buster! At the shelter they call me Bussy, Busta Rhymes, and Buster Boy. I don’t really care what you call me - just don’t call me late for dinner!

A little bit about me. I’m a 5-year-old yellow lab mix, I’m neutered, vaccinated, and up to date on my vaccines & heartworm testing. A little special note about me, I love to do the chicken dance. Why, you might ask? Well because I am a tripod. Not because I lost my leg, but because I was born with a partially deformed leg and I call it my chicken wing. It’s kind of like Nemo’s lucky fin. It doesn’t bother me at all, and I don’t let it slow me down ever! I might do well living with another doggy friend - provided I meet them first and we get along. I do know that cats aren’t for me - I have a higher prey drive, and they are just too fun to chase. I would probably do okay living with kids, and I should mention - I’m more of a man’s man - I don’t seem to mind the ladies, but men make me feel most comfortable.

Unlike some of my friends here at the shelter, I didn’t come in as a stray. I had a loving home with a human that I loved more than anyone but unfortunately, he passed away, and I waited with him until help arrived, because loyalty is my best quality. I miss him so much, but the staff at the shelter remind me daily that a new furever is just on the horizon and I have to keep my spirits up!

I would love to meet you if you’d like to stop by the shelter. We are open 10am-6pm, Tuesday-Saturday. If you have questions, you can reach out to my friends at AVASCares2@gmail.com or by phone at 989-348-4117. I hope we get to meet soon!
