Burt's Story

What can we say about Burt? You know a dog is special when your canine manager falls in love and wants to take him home! But, she's graciously decided to allow all of you the chance to love this handsome boy! Burt is a 2-year-old lab/shepherd/hound mix (to the best of our knowledge). Burt is a little nervous around new people, but once he gets a second to sniff you out and trust that you're nice, you've got a friend for life. He's described as a loving and loyal companion who is a fast learner and aims to please, and once he gets comfortable, he's a carefree, happy-go-lucky boy! He loves to play fetch with balls and frisbees, so he'd like an active home with plenty of room to run and play. He really LOVES other dogs, but still asks for a meet and greet just to be extra sure. He seems to want to chase cats, so a cat-free home would probably be best. He hasn't had much exposure to little kids, but getting him used to new things and experiences in a safe and patient environment would be key. Second Chance Animal Sanctuaries's Adoption Policy

Our adoption process: 1) Fill out an application on our website at www.secondchanceas.org/adopt. Please note that submitting an inquiry through PetFinder or other online listing does not constitute an adoption application. Applications can also be downloaded as a pdf and emailed to secondchanceas@yahoo.com or filled out at the sanctuary any time we're open. 2) We will process your application by calling your veterinarian and personal references. How long this takes depends on how quickly we can reach them. You can help expedite this process by letting them know we'll be calling from the number 570-376-3646. We may also call you to ask additional questions or to share pertinent information about the animal you've applied for. 3) We will inform you of your application's status, usually in a few days to a week. Even if the animal you hoped to adopt goes to another home, you still may be approved to adopt another animal. We attempt to match animals to homes that best fit their personality/needs and vice versa. NOTE: You do not have to apply for a specific animal on your application. You can submit it as a "pre-application" for a certain size, age or breed of animal, and if approved, we can contact you if a possible match arrives at the shelter.
