Bunny's Story
Meet Bunny: A Brave Little Survivor Ready for Love. Bunny is a one-year-old, 10-pound Chihuahua mix with a story that will tug at your heart. She was discovered tethered in the backyard of an abandoned home, left behind when her family moved out. For three long weeks, Bunny survived alone, emaciated and terrified. A medical exam revealed over a dozen fractured ribs. Abuse is suspected.

BUNNY UPDATE from her foster!!! We are so happy to report that Bunny has been having a blast in our foster home with several other small, older dogs (and a passive cat) who give her the space she needs to play with her invisible friends, fluffy cat toys, and baby lambchops! We have been able to see Bunny’s progress as she settles into a routine and we are confident she will add so much joy to her forever home too. Bunny can amuse herself and play independently for hours, and we have to settle her into a play pen and cover her with a blanket for mandatory “nap time.” Not only is Bunny an active puppy, but her neurological issues also cause anxiety so she is a busy, busy girl, often underfoot wanting in on whatever is going on. She is an endless source of laughter and joy as we see her zooming around from one end of the house to the other, chasing dust bunnies and shadows, and learning about all the things that are outside, like grass, birds, and cars. She is now familiar with the sounds of the garage door opening, the trash truck driving by, and the tea kettle whistling, but new sounds can be very jarring for this sensitive girl. We are continuing to focus on leash work, kisses, and being pet all over her body – sensations Bunny has not had in her short life. We are eager to find this pup her furever home and would love to get her into a foster-to-adopt arrangement as soon as we can! She will probably do best in a quiet home without other pets so she can run and circle without crashing into a sleeping dog or cat. This girl deserves her own home and special, patient people she can call her own!

Bunny’s $225 adoption fee includes spaying, vaccines, microchipping, and a free wellness visit at Phoenix Mountain Animal Hospital.

To meet Bunny, call 602-971-1334 to schedule a visit. Walk-ins are also welcome Thursday through Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Come meet this brave little Bunny. You might just be the hero she’s been waiting for!
