Bugsy's Story

Bugsy is a healthy 10 year old chihuahua who came to Cameron Animal Hospital after being abandoned outside. When he was found he had frostbite on his ears, and he had a bad dental infection. However over the last several months he has recovered well, made himself at home, and he is now ready for a home and a family all his own.
Bugsy is a healthy, active 10 year old boy- the frost bite caused him to loose some hair on his ears, but otherwise caused no problems. His general bloodwork is excellent. He had a dentistry, leading to several tooth extractions, and his teeth are now perfect. He has minor age related clouding of his eyes, but he does not have cataracts and his vision is still good. He is still very active and loves to run around and play for short periods. He has been neutered, heartworm tested, fully vaccinated for distemper, rabies, and bordetella, and has been receiving heartworm and flea and tick preventives.
Bugsy, like many chihuahas, selects certain people that he particularly likes, and those that he doesn't, and he can be protective of his selected people. If asked to do things he doesn't want to do, or handled by people he doesn't like, he will nip. Therefore a home with an experienced chihuahua owner is ideal, and a family with small children is not a good fit for him. Bugsy doesn't care about other animals- he doesn't mind their presence, but he doesn't show any interest in being friends with them; so a home with another animal that ignores him would be ok, but he would also do very well as a single pet. Bugsy loves human attention- from his selected people- and he will thrive with someone who works from home or is retired.
Although Bugsy has some quirks, just as all chihuahuas do, he is a loving boy who can't wait for a family all his own!
Please email CAHadoptions@gmail.com for more information.
