Meet Buford, an adorable 3–4-year-old beagle with a heart as big as his floppy ears—and a little heart-shaped nose to match. Buford currently weighs in around thirty lovable, chunky pounds, but he likely should be closer to 25 lbs. Buford has the perfect blend of playful energy and gentle affection. But his story didn’t start easy. Once used as a hunting dog, Buford was sadly discarded and left to fend for himself. He found refuge behind a Subway in rural Arkansas, where kind employees fed him whenever they could. They called the city pound for help—and that call began Buford’s journey toward the loving, safe life he was meant to have. <br/><br/>Now, Buford is thriving in his foster home, surrounded by six other dogs of all sizes and getting along beautifully with each one. He’s house-trained, and leash-trained, and unlike many beagles, Buford is a quiet boy who rarely barks—just a calm, easygoing companion who loves to be near his people. Upon rescue, he did test positive for heartworm but has been treated and is now heartworm free! <br/><br/>Buford is currently in foster care in North Louisiana, but we welcome out of state adoptions. We have an amazing transport that delivers all along the East Coast... PA, NJ, CT, NY, VT.<br/><br/>PAWS of NE LA was formed back in 2003 and we have been sending our special Southern dogs to wonderful homes up North since 2010.
