Buddy (NC)'s Story

Buddy is a 3-5 year old Bluetick boy waiting in the Fayetteville area for a new home after being picked up as a skinny stray along the side of a road. In good weight now at 65 lbs, Buddy is very smart, loving and kid friendly and would make an excellent family dog. He loves to be petted and get cuddles and affection and would be the perfect couch cuddle buddy. Buddy is cratetrained and loves to go for walks in areas without a lot of loud traffic.

Buddy does not growl or bark at other dogs and seems afraid of those that are hyper or barking at him. If he met a dog that was extremely friendly and not hyper he would be quick to make friends with them. Cats are an unknown.

When Buddy barks, it's because he wants something. When his foster mom investigates, Buddy has a "smile" that he only makes when he is barking and someone comes to see what he wants. When he sees that someone heard him, he is so excited and happy with his tail wagging that he can barely contain himself. Buddy loves to wear his sweaters during the cold weather; if the "wrong" one is put on him he will bark and pull out the other one that he wants from his bin and bark at it to show what he wants. Buddy has a few favorite toys and will bark at them for being in his crate until his foster mom moves them out, then he promptly moves them back into his crate.

Buddy is shy and timid in new areas and new environments and cope by finding a corner and hiding until he adjusts to it. He was discovered curled up in the utility sink after he was first found and taken to his foster home and now he retreats to his crate. Loud beeping noises are especially scary for him. Buddy is also timid and unsure around men, and it takes a few days for him to warm up. His adopter will need to be patient while he settles into a new home, but those efforts will pay off in a big way.
