Buddy's Story

Buddy is a 10–12-year-old mixed breed boy, weighing around 45–50 lbs, with a heart as big as his soulful eyes. He was surrendered to a shelter in March 2021 when his owner could no longer care for him, and he spent years waiting—quietly and patiently—for a second chance.

At the shelter, Buddy's days were limited to just a couple of solo outings before returning to his kennel. Now that he's finally free from that environment, his excitement for everyday life is truly touching. Buddy is discovering what it means to be a dog again, and he's making up for lost time with gentle curiosity and joy.

Life hasn't always been fair to Buddy, and recently he was diagnosed with Grade 2 Mast Cell Cancer. A tumor on his back leg has been removed, but there is a strong chance the cancer may return. While we don't know exactly how much time Buddy has, we do know this: every day he's here should be filled with comfort, love, and belonging.

Buddy is incredibly chill and low-maintenance. He loves soft blankets, good food and treats, and the freedom to wander a home and yard without the stress of a kennel. He is dog-friendly but prefers calm companions, as he worries about dogs who may play too roughly and usually keeps a respectful distance.

Goofy, sweet, and full of personality, Buddy is impossibly easy to love. All he wants now is a place to call home. His number one bucket list item is a family of his very own—people who will cherish him and give him the warmth and security he's waited so long for.

Buddy deserves to spend the rest of his days knowing what it means to be truly loved.
