Buddy's Story

MEET BUDDY!

Emotion score: 8 (1/10)
Behavior score: 7 (1/10)
Physical score: 8 (1/10)

Doberman traits: highly intelligent and trainable, highly loyal and protective, highly focused on work and owner, needs an owner who understands the breed and can be the leader they need to thrive.

The perfect home for Buddy would be in a home with another playful, balanced dog. Another good scenario would be in a home with an owner who was happy to do training with him. He learns very fast and is happiest when receiving validation. He would enjoy playing with older children in the home but we would not put him in a home with small children because of his energy level. He would do well as a running companion or an easy walker. Buddy is a young dog and just needs some form of daily exercise to be a good companion. A fenced yard is required and in very good condition.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Background: Buddy is another Houston casualty of an irresponsible owner. He was found tangled up in a gas meter by his anchor wire still attached to his collar. It was his good fortune to be found across the street from his foster mom and dad who are dog lovers. Buddy was severely malnourished and had some skin issues just beginning. Despite his condition, he has maintained a sweet and happy demeanor and has been a good houseguest.

Personality: Buddy is a well mannered dog who enjoys meeting and being around people. This is his 8/10 emotion score. He is respectful of people and will not jump on you. But his first trait is protection and he intuites safety risk. He is respectful of other dogs and will take cues from them and from you. He really enjoys his walks, which help to expend some of his young energy, and walks well. Buddy is a medium on the energy scale. Buddy is now in a home with several other dogs, big and small, and has done good. He wants to play with other dogs and would do well with another balanced, playful dog. Buddy is very smart and food motivated so training him would be very easy,. He is already very responsive to recall and some commands such as place, sit, eyes and kennel. He knows to sit and wait until released to eat. Training Buddy has been fun because he is so receptive.

Health: Buddy is raw fed with gut supplements which have really boosted his health. His skin issues have resolved and he has a beautiful glossy red coat. This is his 8/10 physical score. He will always have some scars on his body from his previous home, which we have no idea their origin. Buddy has been neutered, is HW positive, UTD on vaccines and ready to find a home. His HW test was very very light (he tested negative in July) and we are doing slow kill.

Buddy is your bud if you are looking for a cool, loyal dog to take on adventures or hang out on quiet evenings channel surfing. He is up for whatever you have planned, does well in the car, and loves to cuddle close to you! If you love the breed and are looking for a good companion dog for yourself or a friend for your dog, this is your guy. Buddy is a gem!

Buddy is with No One's Dog Rescue in Cypress, Texas.
