Buddy's Story

Buddy's story is one that we don't like to think about, at all.

Buddy was adopted from ACS shelter in San Antonio several months ago. He then was found by animal control living on the streets. He had lost about 20 lbs and was emaciated. His body was covered in bites. His rear leg, that was perfect before he had been adopted, was now dysfunctional. It was just hanging, and Buddy couldn't use it. The shelter thought it may need an amputation.

The sadness, but strength to keep going touched our hearts. We pulled him from the shelter and he stayed with our veterinarian for several weeks. He needed to gain weight. His bites had to heal. And, although we are SO lucky that his leg healed on its own, he did need to have one of his toes amputated. (But hey, he's the dog to point out that he's got other toes!).

Buddy moves around normally now on all four legs. He loves other dogs and he is affectionate with people as well. To think that the people who adopted him failed him so badly, yet he still trusts humans, is remarkable.

He's still in San Antonio but he needs to move north where his chances of adoption are WAY higher.

Buddy is a German shepherd, around 2 years old. 55 Lbs. vaccinated, neutered and microchipped.

Can you foster Buddy?
Are you interested in giving him a forever home?

He can be transported to any state.

Please email
Homerunhoundsanimalrescue@gmail.com
