At around 3-4 years old and weighing a great medium size of 55 lbs, Buddy is the perfect boy to be your new best friend. Buddy is one of the dogs we met in Cleveland, TX while in Houston TX for a rescue conference back in August 2023. Even though we were not planning on taking any dogs back to Tennessee, Buddy kept running after our car at every stop we made to feed all the stray dogs - he would somehow find us and show up at each location. The last night we were there, he ran after our car and as we looked back through the dust and red gleam of the tail lights, we saw his eyes begging as he ran after us. We just couldn't leave him behind. <br/><br/>Somehow, after two years, he's still with us. We orignally named him Balzey because we had thought, at first glance, he was a female. But, alas, he was a boy! AND, even more so, one thing that instantly brings a sparkle to Buddy's eyes is a ball. He absolutely adores playtime, especially when it involves a game of fetch. Watching him bound across the yard, tail wagging with excitement, is a sight to behold. If you're a fan of outdoor activities and love engaging in a good game of fetch, Buddy is the perfect partner to share those fun moments with.<br/><br/>While Buddy is undeniably enthusiastic about playing with toys, he also has a deep affection for people. He thrives on human connection and cherishes every moment spent with his favorite humans. Whether it's going for a walk, snuggling on the couch, or simply enjoying each other's company, Buddy is happiest when he's surrounded by his beloved humans.<br/><br/>Buddy has shown positive interactions with other dogs, more off leash than, but he's more of a "people dog" than a "dog's dog." While he enjoys the company of his furry friends, he truly craves the attention and affection of his human companions. With his friendly and social nature, he's likely to thrive as the center of attention in a household that can offer him ample love and playtime.<br/><br/>When it comes to training, Buddy is a quick learner. He's already crate trained and house trained, making him a well-behaved and reliable companion. The DOG ADOPTION INTEREST FORM is important and REQUIRED for this reason. <br/><br/>All of our Adoptables are:<br/><br/>Spayed/neutered; Up to date on vaccines; Heartworm tested if six months or older (& kept on heartworm preventative and treated for heartworms if positive when entering our program): Microchipped prior to adoption<br/><br/>BREEDS: We are not breed experts. The breed(s) listed for each adoptable are best guesses or suggestions.<br/><br/>PLEASE NOTE: We are a non-profit organization without municipal or government funding. Veterinary/Medical expenses are constant for an animal rescue. Our adoption fees not only help to provide vetting and care for the animal being adopted, but they also help to cover heartworm treatments and other treatable ailments that many animals, that would otherwise be euthanized, need in order to be made available for adoption.<br/><br/>Please understand that adopting an animal is a LIFETIME COMMITMENT to that animal and there will be veterinary expenses throughout their life that can often cost several hundreds, if not thousands of dollars (without pet insurance), especially without annual checkups and preventative care.  As a potential family for this pet you are responsible for their safety and that includes keeping them on your property.<br/><br/>***If you are not in the middle Tennessee area, transport can potentially be arranged to approved homes, depending on distance and local adaptability. We normally do not allow adoptions outside of 1.5 hours driving distance.
