Buddy's Story

*Please read information on the second attachment for updates.
Buddy arrived at NCCR on 4/6/26, and he is searching for a new home & family to call his own. He is a male German Shepherd, believed to be around 6-8 years old. Buddy is calm, quiet, and has been friendly with all the people he has met so far he just likes to take a moment to check things out at his own pace. Once hes satisfied that youre a friend, hes happy to pal around with you for walks or just hang out together. He is house trained, and has been gentle on his toys and blankets with no signs of destructive chewing. Buddy knows how to walk on a leash and enjoys getting some exercise, but needs training for pulling and leash reactivity. We recommend a home without young children or any other pets. He has received a veterinary check up and has been neutered, microchipped, and brought up to date with vaccinations, and he is ready to start his new life with you!
*Approved applicants are welcome to participate in our popular Slumber Party program and take a dog home for up to 2 weeks to make sure he/she is a great fit.
If you think you might be interested in adopting, your first step should be to complete an Adoption Application at www.caninerescue.org. *After you have completed your application, you will get a confirmation that we have received your application. It takes a lot of time to process the applications, so we ask for your patience while we do so. If you see that the dog you were interested in has been adopted it means there were many applications for that dog and we did not get as far processing your application before a home was found. We welcome you to apply again when you see another dog that interests you. If you have a question, please email us at adoptions@caninerescue.org. It is much easier and quicker for us to respond by email as we receive many phone calls each day.

We do adopt out of state, however we do not transport or ship dogs. Potential adopters must be able and willing to travel to the Rescue to meet the dog they are interested in.

*PLEASE double check all of the phone numbers that you provide. If they are incorrect, we will be unable to process your application. Please also let your references know that someone from NCCR will be calling them. Most adoption team members call from their personal phone, so advise your references that there may be an unknown or private number calling them. Thank you!
